We offer a one-day workshop, “Behavioural Interviewing: More than a Gut Feeling” . The course was developed by our Managing Consultant, George Ferreira, an Industrial Psychologist, and is based on practical experience in recruitment and selection as well as other areas in the Human resources Field.

It is an interactive one-day course that consists of about 50 percent theory and 50 percent active role-plays with feedback on the role-plays. The purpose of the course is to empower business people to make better employment choices.

People that are involved with staff selection, whether they are HR personnel, line managers, department managers or supervisors.
Why should you attend?
This course will enable one to understand and implement the various steps in the recruitment and selection procedure in order to make sound employment decisions.
The delegate will:
- Understand different selection methods (such as Assessment Centres, Behaviour Based Interviews, Work samples, Ability Assessments, Unstructured interviews, etc) and how successful they are in terms of predicting the best candidate for the job.
- Understand the importance of a job analysis / job description in order to use it as a foundation for the interview (understanding the job that needs to be filled).
- Understanding what a competency is in terms of knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required for any particular job.
- Learn how our legal environment impact on the selection and recruitment process.
- Understand how personal and company resources impact on job performance.
- Learn how to do a Competency Based Behaviour Interview. This includes the following:
- Understand how to formulate questions in order to get specific examples of past behaviour specific to the job.
- Understand the different stages of an interview (Rapport building, discussion of the job, allowing the candidate to ask questions, asking questions, ending of the interview).
- Learn techniques to condition the candidate to give specific examples that enable you to evaluate the behaviour that you need.
- Learn how to guide the candidate in such a way that you maintain control of the interview.
- Understand the importance of getting contrary evidence for each behavioural competency.
- Learn how to allow for silences.
- Learn how to evaluate continuously during the interview process in order to re-direct the interview when necessary.
